    What is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner?

    A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with extensive training in family medicine. CFNPs have earned master’s degrees in nursing and additional certification in family medicine.

    CFNPs are qualified to do physical exams of children and adults, diagnose and treat common and complex ailments, write prescriptions, perform certain tests and procedures, order diagnostic testing and help patients to manage chronic illnesses. CFNPs consult and coordinate patient care with supervising physicians when needed.
